GCSE 2022: A fantastic set of achievements by the Class of 2022
Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School is celebrating another outstanding set of GCSE results.
There have been many exceptional student performances with 22 students (18, 2019) attaining straight top grades. Four boys received a clean sweep of ten grade 9s and an A in FSMQ Additional Mathematics: Stephen, Viraj, Adi and Dominic, with Dominic attaining the top mark in the country for OCR GCSE History. Wow!
Well done also to Akshith (seven 9s and three 8s), Rohan (four 9s and six 8s), Mukilan (eight 9s, two 8s), Ibraheem (nine 9s and one 8), Charlie (six 9s and four 8s), Jack (seven 9s and three 8s), Alex (eight 9s and two 8s), Christian (six 9s and four 8s), Cianan (seven 9s and three 8s), Yusuf (eight 9s and two 8s), Ryan (seven 9s and three 8s), Rohit (nine 9s and one 8), Coben (nine 9s and one 8), Amar (eight 9s and two 8s), Ben (nine 9s and one 8), Hadi (five 9s and five 8s), Charlie (seven 9s and three 8s) and Joseph (seven 9s and three 8s).
There were 37 students, nearly a quarter of the year group, who attained an impressive five or more grade 9s. This additionally includes:
Nine 9s: Usairam
Eight 9s: Luke, Mohammed, Dan
Seven 9s: Sam, Umar Max, Charan
Six 9s: Mohammed, Luke, Oritseweyinimi, Tadhg
Five 9s: Eddie, Thomas, Abraham, Ryan
It is also worth noting that 24 out of 32 candidates attained a grade A in the fiendishly difficult FSMQ Additional Mathematics qualification – an exam that pushes Year 11 to answer ‘A’ level standard Maths questions. Incredibly, one of the boys, Sam, attained 100% on this paper. This augurs well for their ‘A’ level Maths studies here at BVGS.

“I am so pleased that the School continues to keep a strong sense of balance and community. Our Year 11 students have been intelligently led by Mr Dave Goodwin, Deputy Head, and all the pastoral, teaching and support teams.
The students have engaged well with the extra-curricular life of the School. In their midst, there are many talented musicians, sportsmen and actors. One Year 11 student, Rohit Jakhu, has even captained the U16 England Hockey team, at the same time as attaining three 9s, six 8s and a 7 at GCSE. An incredible achievement.
Despite Covid-19, this Year 11 cohort have developed superbly as young men during their time with us. These have been very challenging circumstances but the Class of 2022 have done their best to be well-balanced and good-humoured. We are very proud of them all. We wish them all well as they move on to their post-16 studies.”
